Hi. I volunteer on a new permaculture farm in rural western Kenya. Of course, water is a huge challenge even though the farm is only about 200 meters from Lake Victoria. We have swales and canals built into the farm, are harvesting rain water in a 10,000 liter tank and all that. I just am trying to figure a way to water the beds during the dry season. We do not use power which is a huge setback and why I’m trying to think of a sprinkler system that does not use power or pressurized water system. We have a foot powered pump to pump the water though it takes a long time to water the 1 acre farm just using that system.

I’d thought about setting up an irrigation system over each raised bed but how do I get the water pumped to the system? Any ideas??
